Color wheel and value chart

Image
1.  Creating the value scale and color wheel was nice.  It made me feel relaxed.  Mixing the paint for the color wheel made me feel happy because I like making colors at my hand.  The value scale will help me with my drawings so I felt okay about creating it. 2. I enjoyed working with paint the most because I love color.  It was so fun making shades and playing around with the paints. 3.  Honestly I was thinking of how it could be a possibly that there are infinite shades of value and color, some of which we have not discovered yet.  Or maybe ones that our eyes cannot process. So in retrospect, it made me think differently about things. 4.  I did not know that blue and red were too dark to be considered primary colors and that the truth lies within cyan, magenta and yellow. How wild!  I feel uncomfortable that I did not have this knowledge prior, but I can't wait to put it to use.  My opinions on the videos are that I was hap...
Color is the way the eye perceives reflected light off of objects within the natural world.  It is demonstrated in the video that in Venice the light has a particular way of being.  In the video the "Vientiane light" is described as having a yellow-red hue, which we see in the painting the woman the documentary focuses on visits.  They are amazed by the way the painter captured this light realistically in a way that had never been done before.  I was really struck by the ways of which painters in history described their experiences with color.  Especially with Vincent Van Gogh's feelings towards how he used color within painting.  He described that the colors he used in the cafe painting were to reflect his distaste with the mood cafe's made him feel.  Reds and greens were handled in a way to demonstrate these emotions.  The woman within the video also seemed to have a similar view, saying that she paints with emotion.  Her extensive use of c...

Creating a Gmail account and setting up a blog was incredibly simple.  I have a Gmail account as well as my own personal Blogger account so the process was something I was already familiar with. I am hoping throughout this course I will establish a higher and appropriate vocabulary pertaining to art.  That is something I often struggle with when I have to critique works or explain them.  I also am hoping that I will have the opportunity to become more familiar with contemporary female artists. Taking an online course is something I am on the fence about.  I took an online course before however when I first started out at Buffalo State I was an education major.  I was highly uninterested in the material I was learning which made it really difficult to want to dedicate time aside to do my work.  I found it very mundane and not interactive.  This class however seems more interactive which I think I am going to enjoy a lot. The Growth Mindset vi...
